About

Established in 1957, The Chartiers Township Volunteer Fire Department Company #1 has provided continuous fire protection and emergency response for the residents, visitors, and businesses of Chartiers Township for over 65 years.

There are currently over 30 members under the leadership of Fire Chief Fred Simpson.

The department serves an area of approximately 26 square miles in Southwestern Washington County. In addition to Chartiers Township, we provide mutual aid service for Houston Boro, Canonsburg Boro, Canton Township, North Strabane Township, South Strabane Township, Mt. Pleasant Township, and Cecil Township.

Since its inception, all positions in the department have been staffed 100% by volunteers. These dedicated men and women undergo regular training and certification programs to provide the best fire protection and emergency response. We are rapidly growing and currently accepting applications.
